Chapter 11

“Hello Luther Cummins. So you think you’re the man? Well we’ll see about that.” Before Luther could answer him, the line went dead. It was a rough, intimidating male voice.

“Hello, hello… Who is this?” Luther tried franticly to retrieve the call but it was too late. The unknown caller hung up leaving behind nothing but an unreachable constantly busy phone line.

“You bastard. I’m not afraid of you, whoever you are, stop calling my phone.” He slammed his cell phone down on the table in anger. Oh sorry, that was a slip of the pen. The correct thing is; he quickly shut his cell phone off and carefully placed it in his pocket. He was furious. He paced his living room floor back and forth until an idea flashed in his head. “Pin-Point, that’s it. I need to get the ‘Pin-Point’ app,” he said out loud to himself. Luther reached for his cell phone and started to download the app. This was the latest app that he came across a few days earlier while surfing the net.

The ‘Pin-Point’ app allows one to retrace their missed calls via the help of satellite. It pin points the previous caller’s location on a Google type map.

“Got you! You sneaky bastard. You jail bird convict,” Luther said after spotting the caller’s location. It was a call made from a prison, Zing Zong in the USA. Strangely, it was a well-known female prison.

“This is strange. Come here babes. Check this shit out,” Luther called Julia who was in the kitchen cooking dinner. “Do you remember that strange harassing call that I told you about last night?”

“Yes, I do. He called again?”

“Yes, he did, but check this out. You won’t believe this. The guy was calling from a female prison. What’s that all about?”

“Strange!” Julia said. “Shouldn’t all calls coming out of a prison have a pre-recorded message? It usually asks if you would be willing to take a call from this facility, before you even speak to the person?”

“Where did you hear that from? Who have you been calling in prison?” Luther looked at Julia with a bewildered frown.

“At least that’s what happened on a show I once watch called Black is the new Orange or something like that. Don’t quote me.”

“You’ve been watching too many weird movies on Netflix again,” Luther frowned at Julia.

“Hey, an idea came to mind,” Julia said. “That call could be coming from the prison guard. He must be making the call on behalf of some prisoner.”

“Wait a minute.” Luther stood still as if waiting for a thought to pop into his head. He tilted his head slightly to the side at an angle like a puppy dog trying to figure out what his master was saying. “Zing Zong, wasn’t that the place where the notorious drug queen was imprisoned?”

“Who? Doris Bitch, the worst female drug lord from Brooklyn?”

“Yes, that’s the one. They call her D. Bitch. I heard about her on the news,” Luther recalled.

“Got an idea babes, but I don’t think you’re going to like it,” Julia smiled as she took a seat.
